Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Soldiers Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.

Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
